Welcome to the Old Man Markley Wiki!
Old Man Markley is a punk & bluegrass band based out of Los Angeles, CA.
Think of it like this: What would happen if Mike Ness woke up drunk in bed with the guys from Old Crow Medicine Show and decided to just make a record rather than do the walk of shame? Or, for a more tangible description, look at what bands like Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys have done with Irish Folk music and you’ll get an idea of what OLD MAN MARKLEY are doing with America’s proudest Folk tradition, Bluegrass.
Founded in 2007, the band currently consists of John Carey (lead vocals, guitar), Annie DeTemple (Autoharp, Vocals), Jeff Fuller (Drums), Joey Garibaldi (Bass, Vocals), Ryan Markley (Washboard), John Rosen (Banjo, Vocals), and Katie Weed (Fiddle). The band was signed to Fat Wreck Chords in 2010.
The band was formed in late 2007 in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. They were named after washboard player (and former drummer for Angel City Outcasts) Ryan Markley, and played their first show in 2008 at a bar in Pasadena called the Old Towne Pub. The show was attended by an at-capacity crowd and the bar sold out of beer.
The band's debut album "Guts n' Teeth" released on Fat Wreck Chords on January 18, 2011. From this they released the "For Better, For Worse" EP as a 7" on Fat Wreck Chords with the A-Side being and the B-Side was a cover of the Screeching Weasel song "The Science Of Myth".
Party Shack is a perfect representation of OMM’s high-energy, infectious take on bluegrass and will tide over their rapidly expanding fan base until the release of their next full-length in early 2012.
On June 8th, 2012, OMM announced via OMM Twitter that they've started recording their new album! The first single off the album "Blood and My Hands" was released November 06, 2012. The full album "Down Side Up" followed on March 05, 2013.
